Indiana set to vote on new learning standards after dropping Common Core

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana education leaders say they want to vote on new learning standards by the end of this month.

Indiana became the first state to drop the national Common Core in March. There's now pressure to get the draft approved by the state's teachers before they start their summer planning -- but other officials want to make sure there's enough time to critique those standards before they become law.

The state's Board of Education has to finish guidelines for new standards by June.
