Pro soccer advocates tout "great reception" to sport coming to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Pro-soccer coming to Louisville?

We talked with one of those behind the push to bring a minor league team to the city today, and it appears we're closer than ever.

The owner of Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex, Wayne Estopinal, is leading the effort. The group is trying to raise $3 million.

He tells WDRB that - following our story on Monday - they've gotten a "great reception" to the idea.  Estopinal says several well-known and established Louisvillians have expressed interest in funding the project. They're now working on agreements with the city and Slugger Field, where they hope to play the games.

They're also in talks with a franchise in Orlando that's looking for a new location.

If it moves forward, Estopinal tells us they'll likely ask the supporters and fans of the project to give suggestions on naming the team, and then the board will vote on it.
