New app eliminates restaurant wait times

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --It's Saturday night. You're looking to go out on the town for a bite to eat. Bad news though, everyone else had the same idea, and waiting close to an hour doesn't sound all that appealing.

"You know, it's never fun to wait 45 minutes for a table," Co-owner of Senor Iguanas, Juan Segoriano said.

"Sometimes you just can't afford to wait," said KT's General Manager, Adam Lee.

What if you didn't have to? What if you could just walk in and sit down?

"They just simply show up and their table is ready," Steve Higdon from QSR Automations explained.

It's all made possible by a new, free app called "Dine Time."

"It's going to save consumers a lot of time. And, it's going to add a lot to the bottom line for restaurants," Higdon said.

It's an application that serves as a restaurant guide. It shows you what's close, what else is available around the city, and what kind of food that spot serves. The most unique part though, you can restaurants by wait time.

Here's how it works: you pick your spot, put your name in via cell phone without stepping foot in the restaurant, then you show up when the app tells you your table will be ready.

"We're hoping that it will help us for the best," said. Segoriano

"I think it's just going to make us more efficient," Lee said.

From Senior Iguanas to KT's on Lexington, the software is compatible with that of ten restaurants in Louisville right now. The hope from creators is that it will grow here in the Derby City and beyond.

"Later this summer we are going to roll out the consumer app to the rest of the country," Higdon explained.

Dine Time is only available for iphone users in the App Store right now.

The creators should have another version of the software ready for different types of phones in a couple weeks.
