LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Vinyl fans turned out in force Saturday for national record store day. Events at local, independent stores are geared toward getting fans to celebrate local music and the local economy.

Independent record stores offered unique, rare records and special edition products to commemorate the day.
Better Days Records owner Ben Jones says he's owned a record store for 30 years and the trick to surviving the changes in the industry is fostering local interests. "All of it, whatever the medium was we still new that to be an indie record store we had to be the store that turned people on and excited them about new bands," Jones says.

Jones says record store day is all about celebrating the spirit of local music and community.
