CLOUT holds prayer vigil over safety, racism at JCPS

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local group is concerned about school safety and what they see as extreme racial bias in school discipline.

About 200 JCPS students, parents, teachers, clergy and members of Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together (CLOUT) plan to hold a prayer vigil before Monday night's school board meeting.

CLOUT says the district's current approach to discipline makes schools less safe, leads to a poor learning environment for all children, and creates systemic racism.

The group says Dr. Hargens refused a recent request for a meeting and they want to make sure they are heard.

The School Board Meeting at the VanHoose Education Center starts at 7:00 tonight.
