JCPS developing plan to avoid overcrowding in schools

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- JCPS is coming up with a plan so it doesn't run out of room for students over the next few years.

Schools in the east and northeast parts of Louisville are most in need. That's where elementary schools are already crowded and could be over capacity in 2017 and 2018.

One plan would shift students to underused spaces and existing buildings.

Plans to build a new school at Norton Commons are also being considered. The school board will vote on its facilities plan in June.

The board may also approve a final turnaround plan for troubled Myers Middle School next month. That could include closing it down and using it for other purposes.
