LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Joshua Young faces new charges in connection with an assault at his cousin's house the day before he was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend, according to LMPD records.

Young, who was acquitted last year in the 2011 murder of his stepbrother, now faces a fourth-degree assault charge resulting in minor injury and retaliating against a participant in a legal process. Prosecutors may also add a burglary charge.

According to an arrest warrant, Young went to the home of his cousin, Cassi Gouker, on Friday and struck John Robertson in the face.

Robertson is Cassi Gouker's live-in boyfriend and testified in Young's 2013 trial that Young admitted to killing 14-year-old Trey Zwicker.

Young and an unknown accomplice allegedly tried to break into Robertson's home and provoke him to fight. The warrant states that's when Gouker called police.

Young was served the warrant in Metro Corrections Tuesday evening and he appeared in arraignment court Wednesday morning.

On Saturday, records show Young was arrested following a series of fights with his live-in girlfriend. Police say Young left bruises on the girl and punched her in the stomach so hard she threw up. According to the police report, the victim told officers Young told her he was going to make her watch while he killed her grandmother who she calls "nanny," before killing her.

He was charged with assault and wanton endangerment in that incident.

During his arraignment hearing Monday, a judge raised his bond from $1,000 to $10,000.

Young is scheduled to next appear in court on May 1.
