LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville baseball players ditch their cardinal red uniforms for ones with a message of hope.

The team took the field in Black and Pink uniforms as part of Cancer Awareness night.

Fans were encouraged to make pledges for Home Runs for Hope.

It's a year long fundraiser in which baseball fans can pledge any amount for every home run that's hit.

All money raised will be donated to Gilda's Club.

The idea came from  Head Coach Dan McDonnell's wife, who lost her parents to cancer.

The Cards went on to win 3 to 1 against Western Kentucky.
