KSP offers inside look into training and care of canine unit

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky State Police is putting its four-legged comrades in the spotlight, offering an inside look into the role of the canine unit and the training and care of the dogs.

A KSP spokesperson says the Canine Section is attached to special operations and includes 16 troopers, three officers and 24 dogs.

“The Canine Section adds a unique tool to investigations,” said Sgt. Michael Webb. “We capitalize on the dogs’ abilities to track and aid when apprehending suspects and their keen sense for drug and explosives detection.”

Webb says the Youtube video gives KSP an opportunity to showcase the dogs and educate the public on the role of the canine unit in law enforcement,
