Kentucky representative wants answers after inmate dies from hunger strike

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- State Representative Brent Yonts says he is demanding answers after an inmate starved to death in prison.

Yonts wants to hold hearings on prison funding, staffing and other issues.

An inmate at the Kentucky State Penitentiary starved to death on a hunger strike in January. Yonts wants an explanation of the handling of 57-year-old James Embry.

Administrators fired the prison's lead doctor, and other staff members are on leave while the state moves to dismiss them.
