Students get creative when asking their dates to prom

Posted: Updated:
CLARKSVILLE, In (WDRB) --Marquise Parrish has already proven he can go the distance, both on the track and when it comes to his relationship with his girlfriend, Michaela.

"We've been together for three years," she said.

But, when it came time for Marquise to ask the most supportive girlfriend ever to prom, a girl who doesn't miss one of his meets or even a practice, he knew it wouldn't be as simple as just asking a question. You know, the way we did it ten years ago?

"Prom-posing," he says, was the only way. So, the modern day Romeo came up with a plan.

"They told me that I left my car lights on," Michaela explained.

She came out to the parking lot, and that's when she saw him.

"I had my friend play some music in the car, and got some posters, then started dancing," Marquise explained.

It happened in front of all her friends and classmates. One of his posters read "Jig with me at Prom?"

"It was crazy. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't expecting it all," Michaela said.

The promposal wasn't complete though without a big wardrobe change. Marquise ripped his shorts off. Don't worry though, he still had shorts on.

"Prom-posing" is an idea that caught on years back, but gets more and more elaborate with each year. One student in California jumped out of a plane, and drove to his girlfriend's house while she watched the whole thing online.

It's a big production to make a date feel special during a time the two Indiana love birds say they'll remember forever.

"To be asked was really nice...especially in a cool way like that," Michaela said.
