Bullitt County teacher charged with DUI

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)--- A Bullitt County special needs teacher is suspended without pay, after being charged with DUI over the weekend.

WDRB is told that John Hunt, a teacher at Bullitt East High School, was arrested for DUI by the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office.

He bonded out of jail on Sunday morning. Jail officials tell us that his blood alcohol level was a .124 and he was charged with DUI, failing to provide insurance, and having an expired registration plate.

Hunt is the former head basketball coach at Bullitt East High School. He resigned from being the coach in October 2013.
 
As for the DUI charge, Eric Farris, the attorney for Bullitt County Public Schools, sent WDRB the following statement regarding the employment status of John Hunt.

"At this point, he is still employed, but is suspended without pay pending an investigation. The situation will be reported to the licensing board", Farris says.

Jail officials say Hunt was released from the Bullitt County Detention Center on Sunday morning after posting bond.

He is expected to appear in court in Bullitt County on May 8th.
