LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were arrested Friday after police say a dog attacked a police officer.

Ricky McNabb and Raymond Roy were taken into police custody on Saturday afternoon at a home on Lincoln Ave. after police say the dog was ordered to attack a Metro Police officer.

According to an arrest report, the officer went to the home to investigate a report of a stolen dog. Police say the officer had requested multiple times for the two men to put the dog away.

Police say McNabb was being interviewed by an officer when he slammed the door in the officer’s face. The officer then attempted to detain McNabb for identification purposes, when police say Roy ordered the dog to attack the officer. McNabb had to be tased during the struggle, according to a police report.

Police also say that McNabb assumed a fighting stance towards the officer and continued to resist the officer’s orders until he was given strong orders to stop and place his hands behind his back.

The officer involved in the incident sustained a dog bite to the right rear hamstring, requiring treatment. The dog was quarantined by Louisville Metro Animal Services.

McNabb and Roy were charged with assault, wanton endangerment and menacing. McNabb faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.
