Hunter S. Thompson banner dedicated in Highlands

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A mammoth picture of his likeness now honors Louisville native Hunter S. Thompson.

A banner that will hang permanently on the side of The Bristol on Bardstown Road in the Highlands was dedicated Tuesday, April 29.

The banner was unveiled earlier this month as part of Gonzofest, a week-long celebration in honor of the late writer.

At that time, Mayor Greg Fischer announced that the city would be renamed Hunter's Gonzoville for a week each year during Gonzofest.
