Ky. universities given the green light to increase tuition

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky universities have gotten the green light to increase tuition.

The Council on Postsecondary Education will allow universities to raise tuition by up to 8 percent over the next two years. The panel says the increase is necessary because of cuts in state funding and higher university expectations. The hike was capped at no more than 5 percent in either year, and would apply to in-state undergraduate students.

Community colleges can increase tuition by 4 percent over the next two years.
