LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- On Wednesday the company Taxi 7 unveiled plans to launch a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly taxi service.
The company has applied with the state to operate in Jefferson County. If approved, the company will use mostly Ford C-Max cars, making it Kentucky's first hybrid taxi service. Officials also say they'll focus on a particular need for area customers
"The hospital system here in Louisville tells us there's nowhere near enough wheelchair taxi cabs for transplant and head and spine patients," said Michael Solomon, president of the company. "Taxi 7 will deploy 10 new Sienna wheelchair taxi cabs."
All the taxis will be equipped with cameras on board. Company officials say it's for the safety of passengers and drivers.
