Brown Forman honors returning veteran

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Brown-Forman rolls out the red carpet for an employee returning from military service in Kuwait.

Thomas Reed spent the last six months there as part of Air Force Reserve duty in Operation Enduring Freedom. He works at the MacLean Avenue cooperage in Louisville.

His surprise welcome home ceremony Tuesday came as the company seeks to hire more veterans.

It has implemented a new veterans employee resource group called BRAVE to help.

"That's something that our company really embraces and we're just really proud of Thomas and what he has sacrificed, and I think that will only help him to come in and bring even more skills and value to our organization," the company's Bob Taylor said.

Brown-Forman executives presented Reed a bottle of Woodford Reserve inscribed with a map of Kuwait, a gift card for a night out and a cake.
