LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Derby floats, horses, hats and more.

The crowd was cheering Thursday morning for the Kindergarten Derby at Norton Elementary. Students and their parents turned wagons and bikes into Derby floats. The entire school, parents and staff lined the parade route around Norton to watch 120 kindergartners. It's a fun annual event.

"It's a great experience for the kids," said Emily Iliff, assistant principal of the school. "The kindergartners work really hard on this project and this is a way for them to kind of show off what they've done. It's a celebration for the end of the year. We talk a lot about Kentucky history and Derby in their class."

The school also holds Derby hat day and boat races.
