LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- He was test driving a Dodge Charger listed on Craigslist with the owner riding shotgun, but police say that did not stop a Louisville man from trying to steal the car until the owner pulled out a handgun.

Indiana State Police say 25-year-old Marcus Forbes contacted the seller of a 2007 Dodge Charger that appeared on a Craig list ad and expressed interest in buying the car.

After several days of negotiating over the phone, Forbes allegedly arrived at the seller's house in Scottsburg, Indiana on Saturday with several associates, who dropped him off while he allegedly waited for a family member to bring him cash to finalize the deal.

Several hours later, Forbes and the seller took the car for a test drive, when Forbes allegedly refused the seller's request to return home and instead drove onto I-65 southbound.

The seller, now a victim, pulled out his handgun when Forbes continued to drive and used his cellphone to call police, according to a press release.

Police say Forbes stopped the car when officers pulled him over and arrested him.

Forbes is charged with criminal confinement, conversion, attempted theft and false informing.
