Grimes will launch 50-county Ky. bus tour to talk jobs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is launching a 50-county bus tour across Kentucky Friday to highlight her jobs plan and jab Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

The Grimes campaign says the Secretary of State will visit all corners of the Commonwealth to paint a stark contrast between her vision for strengthening Kentucky's middle class and McConnell's statements to a newspaper that it's not his job to bring jobs to struggling Kentucky counties.

McConnell has since said his words were taken out of context.

Meanwhile, McConnell campaigns is responding to the bus tour, saying Grimes is abandoning her duties as Secretary of State to seek a political boost.

The Grimes bus tour will stop in the following Kentucky counties:

  • Friday, May 9: McCracken, Graves, Calloway, Marshall, Trigg, Christian Counties 
  • Saturday, May 10: Todd, Logan, Muhlenberg, Hopkins, Henderson, Daviess Counties 
  • Sunday, May 11: Jefferson County 
  • Tuesday, May 13: Powell, Montgomery, Bath, Rowan, Boyd, Johnson, Magoffin Counties 
  • Wednesday, May 14: Floyd, Pike, Letcher, Harlan, Knott, Perry, Breathitt, Wolfe Counties 
  • Thursday, May 15: Rockcastle, Laurel, Pulaski, Mercer Counties 
  • Friday, May 16: Woodford, Anderson, Nelson, Hardin, LaRue, Hart, Barren, Warren Counties 
  • Saturday, May 17: Simpson County 
  • Sunday, May 18: Madison, Scott, Kenton, Bracken, Mason, Fleming Counties 
  • Monday, May 19: Franklin, Shelby, Jefferson Counties 
  • Tuesday, May 20: Fayette County
