LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About 40 Hardin County leaders and community advocates traveled to Louisville Thursday to tour the YMCA.
They were learning more about the programs the YMCA could offer residents. A steering committee began researching the idea about four years ago. Committee members say residents want a YMCA in Hardin County, and Superintendent Nannette Johnston says the school district is ready to utilize the organization's services.
"The Hardin County Schools district has already come on board and is going to provide program services in any of our elementary schools in the district to have that reach to all of the people," said Johnston.
The proposed site is along Veterans Way near Wise Lane in Elizabethtown. Johnston says once the community has a chance to weigh-in on the proposed location, they'll be asked to help by donating to or fundraising for the effort.
