Burglary suspect allegedly tries to escape from Louisville Metro Police interview room

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested an accused burglar after he tried to escape from the Louisville Metro Police interview room.

According to arrest reports, 39-year-old Jason E. Brewer was recorded on surveillance video as he burglarized a home on E. Manslick Road, near Cinderella Ln., on March 5.

Police say Brewer and his wife pulled up to the residence in a gold Nissan Maxima and Brewer got out and went inside the home, with surveillance video recording him breaking in through the back window.

While he was inside, police say Brewer's wife continued to to drive back-and-forth several times in front of the home, and the pair communicated via two-way radio.

Days later, on March 27, Brewer allegedly broke into another nearby home on E. Manslick Road, but he ran away after two juveniles inside the home saw him.

Those juveniles were able to write down a description of Brewer's vehicle, according to police.

On Thursday, May 8, Brewer was brought into the Louisville Metro Police Department's Seventh Division post for questioning. While in the interview room, Brewer allegedly opened the office door to see if any detectives were watching. Police say when he didn't see anyone, he attempting to escape by running out of the interview room toward an exit.

But police say another detective was walking in at the time and stopped him.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree burglary and one count of third degree escape.
