Duke Energy awards $25K grant to Kentuckiana Junior Achievement

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Duke Energy has awarded a $25,000 grant to Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana.

The money will help Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana as it prepares thousands of students for their future careers. While many Junior Achievement volunteers mentor students inside the classroom, today's grant means many students will get hands on experience.

Twenty engineering students from Jeffersonville High School get to shadow engineers at Duke Energy.

"These students are going to be given the opportunity to see real life engineers working on a real, live job, and hopefully it'll help them to understand what an engineering job might really look like," said Pat Moore with Duke Energy.

The $25,000 check will benefit 2,000 students, most of whom will continue their education and accept jobs that need to be filled in southern Indiana.
