UPDATE: Shooting victim found near Knob Creek Gun Range identified

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Bullitt County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating the murder of a woman who was found shot near the Knob Creek Gun Range.

21-year-old Donesha Marie McStoots was found conscious, with a single gunshot wound to the back. McStoots is from Hardin County and had been living in Louisville.

Bullitt Co. Sheriff's Lt. Mike Murdoch says the business owner found a female shot near the popular gun range on Kentucky Hwy 44 West near Dixie Highway.

We're told the owner of the business, Kenny Sumner, took the victim to Southwest Hospital and she lost consciousness on the way. She was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.

Sumner told WDRB on Saturday that McStoots wasn't bleeding but was foaming at the mouth on the way to the hospital. He said he couldn't call 911 because that's a dead cell phone zone.

Neighbors told WDRB they aren't surprised by Sumner's actions.

"Well that's what Kenny would do you know? They're the kind of people that would help somebody. They're good people out there."

Neighbors also said they haven't had a murder nearby in years.

"I went to bed thinking about it and I went to work today thinking about it. It's something you just don't forget you know."

Bullitt Co. detectives are investigating the homicide, but have no suspects at this time.
