LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officials are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a woman on Friday at approximately 2:34 P.M. on US 68 in Lebanon, according to a press release.

Elizabeth Pittman, 36, of Lebanon, was traveling east on US 68 driving a 2001 Nissan. Authorities say she attempted to pass another east bound vehicle.

Records indicate Pittman was unable to complete the pass due to oncoming traffic and steered back into her lane of travel. Pittman lost control of the vehicle, dropped off the eastbound shoulder, returned to the roadway and struck a semi vehicle in the rear of the trailer.
The semi was operated by 58-year-old Michael Brock, of Berea, KY. Police say Brock was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not injured. Pittman was also wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner.

The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators reconstructed the collision.
