LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – University of Louisville’s Russ Smith was among Saturday’s 2014 graduating class at the KFC Yum! Center. He says his mind might be on his diploma, but it’s also on his missing championship jersey.
Smith took to Twitter on Friday lashing out against FedEx, saying the shipping giant lost the jersey during an insurance claim. Smith says he sent the jersey in a glass case to his dad, but it broke and when he asked FedEx to fix it, he says the jersey just vanished.
“The frame was broken going there,” says Smith, “and in order to get the frame fixed and have the insurance taken care of, you have to send everything back the way it was, so there wouldn't be any suspicion of the jersey, or something being messed up on our part. The next thing you know, the jersey was gone."
Smith says after contacting FedEx, the company’s reply on Twitter was basically “sorry”. He's now trying to get an attorney on the case.
