Police in Eastern Kentucky looking for police impersonators in connection with murder

Posted: Updated:
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities in Eastern Kentucky are on the hunt for two people who barged into a home dressed as cops, and shot a man to death.

Police say 29-year-old Donald Mills was killed Friday morning at his Knox County home when the men who pretended to be police officers forced their way into his home.

Mills' family says they kicked the door in and supposedly robbed him. They also say they held his wife and two kids hostage.

Investigators say Mills was shot to death when he fought back. His wife rushed him to the hospital but he didn't survive.
"It's a very big loss for us right now," Mills's sister Melinda Smith said, "but it's a bigger loss that the boys are going to have to live without a father right now."

Police are trying to track down a maroon Ford F-150 with chrome exhaust tips. They think it's connected to the violent crime.
