Lost cell phone leads to pot bust in Franklin County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A lost cell phone led police in Franklin County to one of the biggest drug busts in its history.

A Western Hills High School resource deputy found the phone on the hood of his cruiser on May 9. A note on the phone said: "Found this," and included the location where the phone was found.

The deputy turned on the phone, and the owner's photo was on the phone's screen wallpaper.

"And on the cover picture of the phone was an individual with what appeared to be 20 or 25 pounds of marijuana," said Melton. "He must have been proud."

Deputies located 23-year-old Tyler Sanderson at his home, where they also found 18-pounds of marijuana.

Sanderson was charged with trafficking marijuana.

Deputies say more arrests are likely.
