Residents of the Knob Creek area nervous after murder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People living near Knob Creek Gun Range say they're worried after a woman is found shot in the back.

Three days after a woman was found shot on the side of the road, police are still piecing together evidence to figure out exactly what happened.

"It's always been quiet until recently," said Carla Thornsberry, a resident.

People living near Knob Creek Gun Range usually don't flinch at gun shots -- but after a murder over the weekend, they put neighbors on edge.

"I mean, it's weird," Thornsberry said. "Don't get me wrong, but it ain't going to scare us off."

People can only speculate why someone shot and killed 21-year old Don'Esha McStoots Friday night.

"Drugs are making people crazy," Thornsberry said. "It's different nowadays."

Neighbors are concerned, saying they haven't seen a murder in the area in years, and police are staying tight-lipped as they investigate.

"You used to go years without even hearing sirens," Thornsberry said. "Now you hear them just about every day."

The owner of Knob Creek Gun Range, Kenny Sumner, found McStoots shot in the back near his business. He rushed her to Southwest Hospital, where she later died.

"There's so many places to hide bodies and stuff like that, but I think they wanted her found," Thornsberry said.

Meanwhile, family and friends of McStoots turn to Facebook to mourn their loss, calling for justice for Don'esha."

If you have any information that can help police move this investigation forward, call the Bullitt County Sheriffs Department.
