Hospital workers exposed to MERS to return to work; second case diagnosed in Florida

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A second case of MERS has been confirmed in the U.S. just as Indiana hospital workers exposed to the virus were cleared to return to work.

About 50 employees at Munster Community Hospital were told to stay at home in isolation. That's because they had come into contact with a man diagnosed with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, commonly referred to as MERS. All 50 have now been cleared, and the Indiana Health Department says the danger to the public has also passed.

MERS has an incubation period of two to 14 days.

A Saudi Arabia resident visiting Florida is now hospitalized in Orlando with a second case of MERS.
