U.S. soldier awarded Medal of Honor for saving fellow soldiers in Afghanistan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -One man risked his life to save fellow soldiers in Afghanistan, but six of his comrades were killed.

On Tuesday, President Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Kyle White. The Army Sergeant from Seattle was with a group of American and Afghan troops in November 2007 when they were attacked.

White was hit, but he left cover several times to drag other soldiers to safety and apply first aid. White is only the 7th living recipient to receive the Medal of Honor for actions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Greensburg, Kentucky native Dakota Meyer was the first living Marine to receive that honor in 2011.
