Papa John's president leaving company for Krispy Kreme

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Krispy Kreme Doughnuts announced Tuesday the hire of Papa John's president and COO to lead its company.
Anthony "Tony" Thompson, 47, will become Krispy Kreme president and CEO, effective June 1.
Thompson is currently the president and COO of Papa John's, and will replace Tony Morgan at Krispy Kreme.
Thompson has worked the Louisville-based pizza chain since 2006, also serving as executive vice president of global operations and executive vice president of North American operations, among other roles.
“In Krispy Kreme, I found the right combination of culture, an iconic brand, and a shared long-term vision. I am excited and feel privileged to become part of the Krispy Kreme family as we work together on the journey to the next level of worldwide growth of this great brand," Thompson said in a Krispy Kreme news release.
