OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- A police officer who died in the line of duty was honored on Sunday.

Officer David Howley, of the Oldham County Police Department, died of a heart attack hours after returning home from work on May 14.

Earlier in the day, he made an emergency response call. This lead the department to classify his death as in the "line of duty".

His death is classified as "line of duty" under the provisions of the Hometown Heroes Act. Under this act, if a person suffers a heart attack or stroke (that later proves fatal) within 24-hours of stressful or strenuous duty, it is presumed to have occurred in the line of duty.

Visitation was held on Sunday at Southeast Christian Church in Crestwood, Ky.

His funeral is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
