LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Kentuckians will head to the polls starting Tuesday for the primary election.

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell is up against Matt Bevin and three other Republican candidates.

Alison Lundergan Grimes is the only Democrat in the race.

Both McConnell and Grimes spent the weekend campaigning in south central Kentucky.

Grimes said, "All Kentuckians across this commonwealth deserve the opportunity to share in the American dream, a shared prosperity, that when we grow the middle class, we all survive."

McConnell said, "Well, we have a preliminary Tuesday. We think we're going to get a good result then, and move on to the general election."

Polls across the state are open tomorrow from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
