Police say man admitted to using heroin before crashing car

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several charges after police say he caused a serious crash early Friday evening.

According to an arrest report, it happened on May 16 on Roy Wilkins Avenue near Chestnut Street. That's where police say 29-year-old Andrew Osborne rear-ended another vehicle and overturned the vehicle he was driving.

Police say that witnesses told them Osborne appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Officers investigating the crash noticed track marks on Osborne's arms "which are consistent with heroin use." Police say Osborne admitted that he had used heroin about an hour before the crash.

Police had blood drawn from Osborne at University Hospital for evidence.

Osborne was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license, and possession of a controlled substance.

Osborne has been cited multiple times for DUI and for operating on a suspended license. He remains jailed at Metro Corrections on a $15,000 cash bond.
