LMPD: Man stole hundreds in valuables from woman

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police arrested a man after they say he stole multiple items from a female victim.

William Brown was arrested by authorities Friday morning after he was accused of taking hundreds of dollars worth of valuables from a woman.

Police say a witness agreed to accompany Brown to deliver merchandise to a prospective buyer. The witness told police that she observed Brown take over $500 worth of perfume without her permission.

Police records also say that short time later, Brown stole a $500 iPad and $100 Nook that were the property of the same witness, who reportedly told authorities that Brown admitted to her that he had  taken the items.

Brown and the witness allegedly agreed to meet up on Saturday so that the items could be returned. The witness told police that Brown got into her vehicle and instructed her to "drive to the bank ATM and get some money."

Police say that Brown pulled out a knife and extended the blade, telling the witness that he would kill her if she did not follow his instructions, according to an a police report. The female victim drove to an ATM and withdrew $100, which she then gave to Brown, according to police.

Brown allegedly fled following the incident.

The victim was able to identify Brown by looking through police photos.

Brown has been charged with theft and first-degree robbery.
