Shively Police arrest woman after marijuana allegedly found in the mail

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shively Police say they've arrested a Louisville woman after she received a package in the mail containing marijuana.

According to an arrest report, officers were called to a post office shortly before 11 a.m. after employees there reported that a package might contain narcotics.

An inspector arranged several packages on the floor, and had a K9 sniff them. The dog signaled an alert when it sniffed a package addressed to 32-year-old Chandra G. Polk.

Using the address on the suspicious package, officers went to Polk's home and knocked on the door. According to the arrest report, Polk let them in and told them that she had been receiving packages for a man she referred to as "D," and that she'd received another package for him that contained marijuana in a freezer bag.

Officers say they saw another package in the home, from the same Denver, Colo. return address as the package recovered at the post office.

Police say they recovered a total of 2.4 lbs. of marijuana.

Polk was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
