Motorcyclists travel through Louisville on way to Vietnam Memorial Wall

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three-hundred motorcyclists are making their way through Louisville, headed to the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

It is the annual "Run for the Wall."

Since 1989, riders have come together each year at this time to promote healing among all veterans and their families. The motorcyclists say they've experienced great weather traveling through states like Kansas, Missouri and here in Kentucky. Their journey will end in Washington, D.C. where the group will unite with the Rolling Thunder Demonstration from the Pentagon, headed to the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

"This run was started by Vietnam vets for Vietnam vets, but now this includes all the soldiers from all of the different conflicts -- Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts," said Ken Catfish Ward, Run for the Wall Route Coordinator. "We are riding for the POW MIA issues to keep the funding available."

Bikers taking part in the Run for the Wall met with patients at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center before continuing their journey.
