Officials identify Beecher Terrace gunshot victims

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – LMPD says two men were killed following a shooting at Beecher Terrace Tuesday night. Detectives are not seeking any outstanding suspects because they believe the two victims shot each other, police said.

The two men have been identified as 26-year-old Dwight Patterson Jr. He died of a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at the U of L Hospital at 7:03 p.m. Tuesday.

The second person was identified as 29-year-old Robert Hebert. He died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 7:01 p.m. at U of L Hospital.

Both men's identities were confirmed by Deputy Coroner Eddie Robinson.

Robert Hebert's brother, John, was killed in the Beecher Terrace area three weeks ago at 12th and Fisk Court.

LMPD had more than a dozen squad cars on scene but still had a hard time keeping people back.

“When you end up with two suspects in two different locations, needless to say, you want to barricade off the entire area," said LMPD Spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.

Smiley says officers got the call around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for the shootings at 12th and Cedar Court.

The two men were found not far from each other. One was near a courtyard and the other was found a couple buildings down.

Paramedics administered CPR in an effort to save the men.

One resident, who was awakened by the gun shots, says she's worried about her kids' safety.

“This is the second time someone got shot here in one month," she said. "I was outside earlier, and I'm glad I didn't walk my kids around my neighborhood, because anything could've happened. This is crazy, I hope they tear these projects down they need to do it, they need to, for real."
