Former Shepherdsville substitute teacher indicted on sodomy charge
Officials conducted a month-long investigation into the allegations against Bickers.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Bullitt County Grand Jury has indicted Suzanne Bickers, 33, of Shepherdsville, on one count of sodomy in the third degree and two counts of unlawful transaction with a minor in the third degree, according to a press release.
An investigation was initiated April 16, after allegations of an inappropriate student/teacher relationship were made to Bullitt Central High School.
School administrators contacted the Shepherdsville Police Department and removed Bickers from the classroom.
"Suzanne Bickers was hired as a substitute teacher in the summer of 2013. As soon as BCPS became aware of the allegations, she was removed from the classroom immediately. She was subsequently terminated. Her employment was terminated and BCPS cooperated with authorities from the beginning," said Joe Mills, Attorney at Law.
Detectives conducted a month-long investigation and presented their case to a grand jury on May 16.
Residents say schools should be digging deeper and paying closer attention to who's in their classrooms.
"It's very upsetting because you're supposed to teach your, send your kids to school to learn, not to be taken advantage of," said Danny Lafollette.
