LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- President Obama is taking action after 26 Veterans Affairs facilities allegedly covered up long, potentially fatal, wait times for veterans to receive care.

Obama met with Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki on Wednesday morning. Afterwards, Obama said that anyone found manipulating records at VA hospitals across the country will be held accountable.

"Today I want every veteran to know, we are going to fix whatever is wrong and so long as I have the privilege of serving as commander in chief, I'm going to keep fighting to deliver the care and the benefits and the opportunities that your families deserve now and for decades to come," said President Obama.

The president has now ordered a broader review of the system. Preliminary reports of an investigation are expected next week.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill may also vote on a bill that would give veterans officials more authority to fire those responsible.
