Louisville mayor unveils new "Cultural Pass" for students

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Mayor Greg Fischer has announced programs for local youth this summer after recent violence.

The Mayor also unveiled a new Cultural Pass for kids that will allow them to visit local attractions and museums for free during the summer. The goal is to help kids learn outside the classroom, stimulate creative thinking and help improve academic achievement.

The pass admits one student -- including college students -- to attractions from the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, to the Kentucky Derby Museum, to Yew Dell Gardens.

The pass was one of the 80,000 ideas that citizens submitted last year as part of the Vision Louisville initiative.
