Workers trade four wheels for two in Louisville mayor's first 2014 "Bike to Work Day"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- On Friday morning, some people used two wheels instead of four to get to work.

Mayor Greg Fisher joined other Louisville residents for the city's first "Bike to Work Day" of the year. There were several meetup spots for bikers. One group took off from Seneca Park and headed downtown.

"What a great way to start the day," said Mayor Fischer. "You get up, you have a bike ride, and no matter what happens the rest of the day, it started off well."

The initiative continues at noon with a celebration at 4th Street Live! where bikers can enjoy local vendors, learn more about bicycle commuting, and win prizes including a new bike.

Louisville has added bike lanes throughout the city and has a plan for increasing bike activity through 2030.
