LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Career Center announced Tuesday that Horizon Group Properties, Inc. will hold a job fair for The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass on Wednesday, June 4, at the Martha Layne Collins High School Gymnasium, according to a news release.

The location is 801 Discovery Blvd. in Shelbyville. The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with representatives from many stores and businesses. More than 1,000 positions need to be filled, according to Gina Slechta, Vice President of Marketing for Horizon Group Properties.

"There is a wide variety of positions available, including management, sales associate, security, administration, marketing, maintenance, and housekeeping. With the shopping center opening in July, many of the stores are hoping to interview and hire on the spot,” said Slechta.

It is suggested that applicants dress professionally and bring plenty of copies of their resumes. Applicants must be 16 years or older.

"This is an exciting opportunity for the region, not only to get people employed, but to strengthen the economy, as well," said Commissioner Beth Brinly of the Kentucky Career Center.

"The partnership we have with Horizon allows us to assist them in finding the most qualified and skilled workforce to meet their stores' needs. I look forward to building relationships with the businesses this project will bring to the Bluegrass," Brinly said.

Construction began in May 2013 on the 374,300 square-foot, 50-acre factory outlet shopping center located in Simpsonville.

The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass is scheduled to open July 31 with a wide variety of well-known designer outlets, including Coach, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Michael Kors, Nike, North Face, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Under Armour and more.

The center is more than 95 percent leased, and it is expected that additional store names will be announced in the near future.
