Indiana educators could lose millions of dollars in federal funding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana educators are waiting to learn if they'll lose millions of dollars in federal funding.

The state Board of Education is expected to get an update on the state's efforts to maintain its waiver from federal No Child Left Behind rules.

The U.S. Department of Education alerted state officials last month that they were in danger of losing the waiver because of problems monitoring low-performing schools.

The concerns were raised after Indiana became the first to formally stop using the Common Core education standards.
