LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- PRP High School and Greenwood Elementary were on heightened security for a brief time Thursday morning while police searched for a man accused of cutting a woman during an argument.

According to a news release from LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, the trouble started around 10 a.m. in the 3000 block of Algonquin Parkway. That's where police responded to reports of a possible domestic dispute. Police say the victim was in an SUV driven by her attacker in the Parkhill area near Algonquin Parkway when they began arguing. During the argument, police say the man pulled a knife and cut the woman, then pushed her out of the vehicle.

The woman was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.

A short time later, the vehicle was spotted by an LMPD officer who attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver ignored the officer and continued at a high rate of speed before losing control and striking a tree and an unoccupied vehicle on Greenwood Road near Daffodil.

The suspect continued running from police on foot before he was caught.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the suspect.
