POLICE: U of L and UK football players cited for drug possession

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -  A University of Louisville football player and a University of Kentucky football player received citations from police for possessing marijuana, according to police records.

U of L wide receiver James Quick and University of Kentucky defensive end Jason Hatcher were cited by University of Louisville police officers for marijuana possession. It happened on May 26 at the Cardinal Town Apartments, located on South 3rd St.

Police records say authorities responded to a smell of marijuana coming from an apartment. Officers entered the apartment after they knocked and were given verbal consent.

Police records state Quick surrendered a jar containing marijuana buds, another jar containing marijuana roaches, and a digital scale. Police records say that Quick had 39.5 grams of marijuana in his room. Hatcher reportedly pulled a baggie of marijuana from his pocket. Police records say the package contained less than eight ounces of marijuana.

Quick was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Hatcher was cited for marijuana possession.

Hatcher is scheduled to appear in court on June 23. Quick has a court date on July 7.
