UPDATE: I-64 West re-opened in Shelby County after tractor trailer overturned

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say a single vehicle, non-injury accident shut down I-64 in Shelby County Sunday afternoon. 

The accident occurred at mile marker 28 at around 2:13 p.m. 

The truck was carrying plywood material, which was scattered across the westbound lanes of I-64. The accident also disconnected the diesel tank, which landed in a nearby creek. 

Kentucky State Police said the roadway would remain closed for a minimum of 6-8 hours for a cleanup. The road re-opened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night. 

Several other agencies from Shelbyville, Simpsonville and Shelby County along with other state agencies have assisted with the scene.

According to a press release, the truck dropped off the shoulder of the roadway, causing his vehicle to overturn. The Truck, driven by John Gregory of Winden, Georgia, came to rest in the ditch along the roadway.
