Fire officials respond to chemical leak in the Rubbertown area

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fire officials responded to a chemical leak in the Rubbertown area Monday morning, according to Metrosafe dispatchers.

We're told the leak took place at American Synthetic Rubber, at 4500 Campground Road, near Ralph Avenue, and involved the chemical butadiene. The Lake Dreamland Fire Department was on the scene, and declared a Level 2 hazmat situation, according to dispatchers.

Shortly after 11:15, fire officials say they were able to stop the leak.

No evacuations were ordered, according to Metrosafe.
