Clarksville applying for special government safety grant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Town of Clarksville, City of Jeffersonville, and Clark County Sheriff's Office are teaming up to make Clarksville a safer place to live.

The entities are applying for a special government safety grant: the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, which is known as "JAG" and is available each year through the U.S. Department of Justice.

It  provides funding for things like law enforcement, prosecution and court programs, prevention and education programs. 

There is no word on when the grant will be awarded.
